The 'First Edition™ Technito® Arborvitae, Thuja occidentalis 'Bailjohn' (PP15,850), has the attractive dark green color of Techny and retains it through winter just as well. This cultivar, being noticeably more dense, is an improvement because it will require less shearing. Forms a compact pyramidal outline.

Arborvitae are the most popular evergreen used in our urban landscapes. The reason for their popularity probably lies in their versatility. Whether used for screening or as a specimen, there is an arborvitae cultivar in just the right size or shape for almost every yard. Easy to grow, arborvitae do best in full sun and moist to well-drained soils.

They also tolerate partly shaded locations but their foliage may not be as full and dense.
